Spiritual Healing is an important part of Spiritualism. It has been practiced for thousands of years by many different cultures. Many of the miracles of Jesus were achieved through Spiritual Healing.
There are many different methods of Spiritual Healing used by different people and organisations. Although there is much room for individual techniques, we as Spiritualists are greatly influenced by the techniques of Harry Edwards, who was a prominent English healer. One of his main principles was simplicity. Many healing techniques are very flamboyant and look impressive. However, his healing work showed that the simple direct approach was just as powerful.

People come from Spiritual Healing for many reasons. There may be a specific physical complaint or emotional difficulties, or merely a need to boost sagging energy levels.

Usually, a Spiritual Healer in our church will begin by placing their hands on the head or shoulders. They may first move their hands through your aura once or twice to cleanse it. From there, the healer's hands may stay on your head or shoulders or may be drawn to another part of your body. Sometimes there will not even be any physical contact, but the healing power is still being transmitted.

The healing energy is not coming from the healer themselves, but he or she is the channel through which healing happens. The healing power comes from the highest source of love and healing which many people call God. The healing is rather like an electric light, the healer is the switch and the patient is the bulb. The switch does not make the bulb light up, but without the switch the electricity, or the healing power, could not flow and light the bulb. By prayer and meditation the healer turns on the switch, whereby the healing power of the Infinite Source flows through the healer and the patient to effect the healing.

Other Spiritual beings are al present at the healing. These are Healing Guides who control the healing energy to ensure that it goes to the right places and is used in the right way. This is the whole healing.

Spiritual healing does not hurt and will not produce any adverse reaction to any medication you may be taking.

You may feel a tingling sensation or warmth from the healer's hands. Healing occurs first at the spiritual level which then initiates the healing at the physical level. This usually means that the results of healing do not appear immediately, so don't worry if you don't notice any immediate changes. Often repeat visits are necessary.

Sometimes we have an ailment to teach us a lesson about life. It may be to teach us patience, or to warn us of greater health dangers if we do not take notice. The healing of physical symptoms may actually sometimes not be in your best interests and if so, it will not heal until you have learnt what you needed about your complaint. Spiritual Healing will, however, always help in some way.
